Doreatha Page, Graduate Intern

You’re overwhelmed by emotions right now. Sitting there scrolling just trying to find something that will help. You want help, you’re not afraid to reach out for it but you just can’t pinpoint how that help is going to look. You’ve reached out to people that you have thought were in your corner only to leave not feeling heard. You’ve done your homework and realized that you’re not experiencing the full range of your emotions but you’re trying, you haven’t stopped trying.

You’re having a hard time seeing the bigger picture, struggling with incomplete thoughts and just being able to put everything together in your life in a way that works for you. You know yourself better right now than you have in the past, but something is still missing.

In working with me, I help you to find that missing piece. I help you to see the bigger picture, work through your emotions, and build the life that you want on a solid foundation of environmental support, strong core thoughts and spirituality.

I want you to know that you have support with me, that I will be in your corner just as I have been in the corner of many in some of their darkest moments. I will provide a safe place for you to feeling secure in being open about those struggles that many don’t see. I will work with you on developing a feeling of hope. I will guide you in the direction that you want to go. I will help you to heal from the negative experiences that you have had acting as your guide.

Hello, I’m Doreatha, Therapist Intern, currently working toward my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of the Cumberlands. I’m here to help you to discover how to empower yourself to overcome obstacles. To improve the way that you see yourself and gain insight into who you are as a person. I’m here to help you to grow past those walls that you have built to protect yourself, encouraging you to believe in yourself.

I know you’re wondering why me? The thing is, I’m not just a Therapist Intern, I’m a real person that has had to endure many of the same struggles you are dealing with right now.

I experienced a lot of struggles in my environment as a child. My parents were in the military requiring frequent moves, new school, new friends, new support systems. I became shy and quiet just wanting to be hidden. I’ve had traumatic experiences that impacted the choices that I made in life but also led me down a path of healing through faith-based counseling.

I know many have a hard time connecting with therapist, there’s this belief that we aren’t real people, that we have our lives all together. People feel that they can’t relate to us, but I’m here to tell you that my story, my journey, was a long and hard one but I’ve come out on the other side and I want to pass on the things that helped me to transform my life.

I enjoy working with women to help them feel empowered, adolescents that need help surviving their environment, and families that want a fresh start on being able to interact well together.
