You have tried a lot at this point to be able to cope with the new everyday realities in this post-pandemic world. Maybe you go home from work and pour up soon as you get there. Maybe you like to smoke so you roll something up. Maybe you have a great support system with your friends or your parents and you can talk to them about most things in your life, but not everything. Maybe you try to find the answers in food, sex, social media, or whatever tools you’ve been using. But it’s still not enough to truly work through what’s been going on and break through it. The good news is that you possess some real important strengths necessary for this process. The strengths that you have right now are self-awareness to know that you need help, and the wherewithal to go looking for it which brought you to this page.

Hi, I’m Torian, LPC Associate.

The past two years have been tough times for many with the pandemic, economic downturn and shifts in workplace realities. People are dealing with mental health crises more than ever. Depression is up. Anxiety and PTSD are both at all-time highs. The energy that these times have created is causing people to suffer; to suffer in themselves, in their relationships, work life, and home life, and the idea of giving up seems like the best move at times. But you know the good part about

all this? People are waking up to the need to be proactive in regard to their mental health. The past two years changed the realities and have made so many people be still for a hot second to finally take a good hard look at themselves, their lives, and their relationships. More than ever, the stigma surrounding mental health is turning around and people are starting to open up to the idea of getting help.

I believe a client’s thoughts, behavioral patterns, and triggers have deep roots in their accumulated trauma in life; possibly things they went through as children and even as adults. I approach these thought patterns by helping you dig deep into your whole story and see the correlations between who you are now and who you were back then. My key factor in this process is authenticity, meaning that I show up as my genuine self and try to sincerely meet you where you are, relate to you and bring things into your consciousness. I bring this to my clients not only to stay true to myself, my education, and my training, but because I can’t expect you to keep it 100% with me if I don’t do the same in return.

My journey to get to this point as a therapist hasn’t been easy. I’ve experienced many hardships, detours, roadblocks, and challenges. I’ve been through my own share of childhood trauma. I’ve lost loved ones. I’ve had dreams deferred. I’ve had betrayals from people close to me. I’ve had family drama. I’ve seen and been through many things, and I have also dealt with the depression, anxiety, and PTSD that comes with the aftermath of these issues. Through reframing these experiences, taking inventory of them, and creating a new narrative/story for my life, I have been able to effectively fight the negative voices in my head as well as the unhelpful behaviors that the hard times created. The seeds of doubt. The seeds of insecurity. My goal as a counselor/therapist is to help you as my client to do the same, and to assist you with any other goals you may have.

I have worked with a variety of different people; I have experience assisting individuals (adults, youth, and children) and couples of diverse ethnic groups as well as various sexual orientations.

My main techniques for helping clients are PCT (person-centered therapy) with some techniques taken from CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy) and SFBT (solution-focused brief therapy) to holistically address the needs of the whole person. Lastly, I won’t ever tell you what to do but I will serve as your guide. I will challenge and/or confront you as needed while you take the driver’s seat in the journey to your own personal healing. Therapy might not be the end of all your challenges or problems, but learning various coping mechanisms, tools, and skills will help you to create a healthy way to handle issues/challenges that may come in the future for a lifetime.
